Biography

Claude Charlebois was born in Montreal and raised in a family interested in the art world. He enrolled in oil painting courses in 1979 in order to master this discipline.

In the beginning, his work reflected a classical and academic style while searching for his own personal style. He painted landscapes with brush strokes influenced by the painter « Léo Ayotte » and «Marc-Aurèle Fortin»who is known for his love of trees and forms outlined in black.

Today, Claude Charlebois is able to think abstractly, reducing details to the essential and  concentrating on his inspiration of the moment. He greatly admires Jean-Paul Riopelle and was awarded great distinction for his painting «Hommage à Riopelle».

In June, 2004, he met Conway, a Vancouver artist, who encouraged him to continue with his new style. It’s the meeting of abstract and figurative art for a synthesis of modern and real forms.

The work of Claude Charlebois is always evolving and growing.Claude Charlebois
